1979 C.F. Martin D-41

What a gorgeous example this is of the now "old" Martin D-41.  These came in two subtle colour schemes:  blue pearl and green pearl.  I don't think it was intentional but Martin was clever enough not to mix the two so they do come in those two differences. I only like the green ones, being a green person.....and this one is green.  It not only is green but it's patination all over is just superb. Warm, light carmel coloured nitro finish with almost no playwear.  Solid Indian rosewood rims and back with a Sitka spruce top with lovely graining and colour and a very tightly grained mahogany neck.  Pearl inlaid headstock logo with ebony board and bridge.....all the usual accompaniments to this model.

The sound is classic D-41......not as boomy as brazilian with a bit of control and a very even tenor.  This model seems more articulate than others that I've had and is a superb fingerpicker which is unusual for a 70's dreadnought.  Crisp and clear it is a delight to play and look at......and one of my favourite guitars from Martin being the CSN&Y nut that I am.
