1939 Recording King 1027

Product Code: DBC-01

1939 was the first year for the production of Gibson's Recording King 1027, a mimmic of the Advanced Jumbo that was brought out in 1936.  It was the only contract brand guitar up to this point that had X bracing with a rosewood body and a 5 laminate neck, not unlike the war time banners. It was only shipped for two years with a total of 180 instruments being made for those two years. At the same time, Gibson was experiencing a resurgence in it's main line Gibson branded instruments which brought about the end of contract instrument lines.  The AJ bowed to the Banner and that was the end of the 1027.  Sadly, as it was one of the very few instruments that Gibson made using rosewood and it is one hell of a guitar. Properly replaced bridge plate and restoration to the logo plaque which  had lost it's finish and some lettering....oh, and a center seam re-glue as well.  Which is little to ask from an almost 100 year old Gibson.....and it still makes a fabulous racket !!!!!
