1939 Recording King 1028
The mahogany brother to the 1027, the 1028 is a parody on the Gibson J-35. Mahogany rims and back with a spruce top, mahogany neck and X bracing. Again, these were made for only two years, 1939 and 1940 with a total production figure of 232 for the two years at which time they were discontinued due to the success of Gibson's main line models. It's very much a J-35 with a snappy, bright voice......light as a feather and a bit of a hot rod. Refinished with a superb and accurate nitro shaded surface, it's a very rare guitar indeed. One you might not see again.
