1938 C F Martin 00-18 G
What a truly lovely guitar this is. The gut string braced 00-18 from the 30's in excellent structural condition. This model is almost never seen on the market and it's one of the first 33 that were built with a 12 fret body and a 24.9" scale length.. It is listed in Martin's G model stock list as the first of 6 made and stamped on April 13, 1938. It's specs from that listing note 12 fret, regular X-bracing, pin bridge, braces extremely light, neck as wide as wood allows, fingerboard almost flat, no postiion marks (which it happens to have) and regular side dots. It is the ideal guitar for those who likes a silk and steel sound and feel and it has a magnificent voice. This example had, at some point in its long life, a bridge helper put inside of it so that it could be played with steel strings which it does with aplomb. The top is perfectly flat and it is a magnificent sounding 12 fret guitar. . And......one could pop the bridge helper out of it and put silk and steel on it as was originally intended and restore it to it's original integrity. So a choice to be made on what is a rather wonderful and rare early Martin in lovely condition. Restored tuners.
